Short answer: Yes

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), any new installation or major alteration to existing bleachers must include accessible seating. This isn't just a suggestion; it's federal law.

You need to have a certain number of wheelchair spaces (based on total seating capacity) located so they have sightlines comparable to other spectators. They also need to be on an accessible route. Any reputable bleacher company will know the exact requirements and help you design a compliant layout. Don't risk the liability or exclude members of your community!

You can almost always fix this yourself! 99% of the time, it's a lack of lubrication.

Identify the Source: Slowly open and close the bleachers and listen for where the noise is loudest. Focus on pivot points, rollers, and guide channels.

Clean: Use a brush or rag to wipe away old grease, dirt, and dust from these areas.

Lubricate: Use a dry lubricant like a silicone spray or graphite powder. Avoid WD-40 or grease as they attract dirt and gunk everything up worse in the long run.

Spray the lubricant on all the moving parts you identified. Work the bleachers back and forth a few times. The noise should be gone. Do this every 6 months as part of regular maintenance.

In short, yes — end-of-travel limit switches should be a standard feature on all powered telescopic bleacher systems.

Relying only on the operator to release the pendant can lead to damage or safety risks. A proper setup uses two limit switches per direction (approach + final stop), tied into the control circuit.

They’re inexpensive, add an important safety layer, and make operation more consistent. Some older or lower-cost systems skip them, but retrofitting limit switches is one of the smartest upgrades you can make.

Hope this helps.
